One of the main topics of discussion between Melbournians is the weather and there are many jokes around its unpredictability. So, when we went to the Great Ocean Road drive during June, it looked like a mistake and it looked like we would not be able to enjoy the view of the 12 Apostles but thankfully, while the skies didn't look like it was about to cooperate with us, we still got to enjoy the view of the 12 Apostles. One of the things that just boggled my mind when I reached this place was that this was like the end of land towards the South of Australia and while you might come across a few Islands or if you turn into a particular direction maybe Tasmania. It is still the end of land for the mainland Australia the continent. That feeling for some reason was very unsettling to me and that if you keep drifting away into the ocean the next stop would be Antarctica. When you take the Gibson steps down towards the beach and you look back, the whole place looks like a big wall fortress and in fact it is the final boundary of the continent as a whole.
This picture was taken from the viewing deck and on the right hand side (turning towards the ocean) were the incredibly famous 12 Apostles and on the left were these two limestone stacks named Gog (bigger stack) and Magog (smaller one). While there is a saying that every cloud has a silver lining and while we weren't able to see it this day, we surely were able to see the rainbow creating a perfect backdrop for Gog and Magog.
