After over a decade of photography experience, doubts about exactly what focal length I should be using still haunt me. To solve this dilemma, I picked up the Nikon AF S DX NIKKOR 18 to 300mm f/3.5 to 6.3G ED VR and paired it with my Nikon D7500. I carried that setup as my primary travel rig for almost two years across Singapore, Korea, Nepal, and Melbourne. Eventually, I needed hard data on my actual shooting habits to determine what lenses I truly needed.
The Friction of Existing Tools
Desktop cataloging applications can pull this data, but the workflow is clunky. Most online options either require downloading abandoned utility software or uploading gigabytes of private RAW files to a third party server.

How the Analyzer Works

How to Use the Tool
Navigate to Tools > Focal Length Analyzer in the top navigation bar.
Select how many folders you want to evaluate.
Choose the appropriate sensor crop factor for each folder from the dropdown menu.
Click the folder selection button to load your image directory locally.
Click Run Deep Analysis to generate your charts and gear advice instantly.

The Results & Smart Recommendations
Once the scan completes, you will see a detailed visual breakdown of your shooting distribution alongside an automated gear recommendation tailored specifically to your chosen system.
